Native GRF Loader + Latest Ragexe with Native kRO data.grf Support
I’m releasing the native GRF loader alongside the latest Ragexe, including support for loading the native kRO data.grf directly. The native decoder is embedded into the client itself, so there is no separate loader DLL required.
This was already planned for Christmas. It was always going to be released to the community, but I guess Christmas is coming a little earlier than expected.
Between this release, WARP0716 Part 2, and WARPGATE 1.0.15, I will most likely be wrapping up my public releases, and you can thank several key members for that, I havent made up my mind yet.
I also want to make my position clear, because it seems to keep getting lost. Everything I build is a hobby that I work on in my own time. My contributions have never been driven by money, and they never will be. I said this publicly back in June, and that statement still reflects exactly where I stand today.
I’ve been playing Ragnarok Online since the early days and have been part of the private server community for a long time. I remember when people built things for each other because they loved the game. That is why I started sharing my work, and it is still why I do it.
After everything I’ve freely released, having people assume otherwise is honestly mind-boggling. I’ve put a lot of my own time into these projects and shared the results so other people could benefit from them. Seeing my intentions questioned despite that is frustrating, and this whole situation reminds me of why I left this community in the first place.
You don’t have to like me. But to those who hate me over this, maybe direct some of that anger toward the people who were selling these capabilities for hundreds or thousands of dollars. I’m sharing my work freely, exactly as I had already planned to do.
I’m disappointed that something I was looking forward to sharing at Christmas has ended up needing this explanation. I still want people to have it, use it, and build something with it. That part hasn’t changed.
To everyone who has supported me, helped test things, or simply appreciated the releases, thank you. I don’t want the negativity to overshadow that support or the reason I enjoyed contributing in the first place. I hope you get something useful out of these releases and keep building things that make RO worth coming back to.
